When we last left our heroes, Chez François and Marco, they were serving up some of Managua’s most delectable treats from a relatively hidden location off of Carretera Masaya. Unfortunately, being hidden wasn’t part of the plan.
So for the sequel, La Boulangerie Patisserie has transformed and reopened in a new, more accessible location in Los Robles, right across the street from Farmart, in a building with a can’t miss red and blue paintjob that seems to have been inspired by noble Autobot leader, Optimus Prime.
Now, in addition to French pastries and breads, the bakery offers traditional Latin American fare like sopa borracha and tres leches, as well as some of the best sandwiches around.
Optimus Prime is known throughout the galaxy for valiantly fighting against the evil Decepticons, much in the same way that Chez François will surely one day be known in Managua for the battle he is waging against the evil ‘one slice of ham surrounded by two slices of white bread,’ which too often passes for a “sandwich” here.
François the Chef knows that the base of any great sandwich is the bread, and because he already makes some of the best, he has turned his focus to filling his baguettes, ciabattas and more with high quality meats, cheeses and fresh vegetables.
This attention to detail has paid off and because of the new bigger location, it is possible to enjoy the delicious food inside or, better yet, outside on a shaded patio area that is coming soon. Either way, it’s the perfect place for a little extra lunchtime relaxation.
